Renshaw's Field Association
Our Potted History 2015 onwards
The field was purchased in 2015 by the community of Clive through a public works loan, a donation from Grinshill Parish Council and with the help of Clive Parish Council.
Renshaw's Field Association was assembled to protect the field from development and keep it as a recreational space for the benefit of the whole community. The association is an independent charitable trust. The trustees are either volunteers or representatives of local organisations including the Parish Council, Village Hall, School and Church.
In 2016 planning permission was sought to change the access way to a splayed drive with grants from the Wrekin Housing Trust and Big Lottery Award. The Clive & Grinshill WI donated for installation of new pedestrian gate. A noticeboard, rubbish bin, and benches were also purchased.
2022 saw the purchase and planting of a 3m Willow Dome & Tunnel with a grant from Community Resourcing and the Twemlows Community Energy Fund.
In 2023 the Drawwell Wall Reinforcement & Rebuild Project was funded by a grant from the ‘Big Lottery Fund’ and a donation from the Clive Parish Council.
There was a community event held to plant trees and hedging (donated by The Woodland Trust) for The Queen’s Green Canopy. This was in celebration of her Platinum Jubilee seventy-year reign and in her memory following her death on 8th September 2022. The planting of the trees was designed in the shape of a capital “C” for Clive. Plaques to commemorate the planting were inset in Grinshill stone and unveiled at the Clive Village Show & BBQ in August 2023.
